Who doesn’t want a horse who comes up to the mounting block willingly and stands calmly for you to get on? If you’re going to ride, you want a horse who’s easy to get on!
Personally, I LOVE teaching the mounting lessons. I love it when my horses line up for me – it makes me smile every time!
The mounting lessons are also the bridge between ground work and ridden. Lots of horses seem to lose connection with their human as soon as the human gets on board. Working on the mounting block portion helps to let your horse know it’s still you up there and to maintain the connection, relaxation and relationship from in-hand work to riding.
