Spain: Hoof Care & Trimming For Your Barefoot Horse

Would you like to trim your own barefoot horse? Or are you just thinking of going barefoot and want to know more? Or maybe you trim already but need some help to train your horse to be more co-operative? Whichever you want, this is the course for you!
In a full week, you will learn the why’s of barefoot hoof trimming and how to create the best environment to create a sound horse.
You will see hoof dissections so you clearly understand the mechanics of hoof health. And you will learn to give your horse a good basic trim, and to identify where you need to call in a professional. We will also spend time teaching you how to train horses to love hoof-trimming and think it’s the best part of their day! This makes the trimming much easier to do and kinder on your body.

They will be assisted by Claire Waldron, Manager of the Connection Training Centre who is responsible for keeping the Centre horses sound.
This will be an interactive course and we encourage you to bring photos and videos of your horses so that you can have one to one consultations about your horse.
Accomodation will be in our lovely villa in Andalucia. Teaching will be in the mornings and evenings, leaving the afternoon free for enjoyig our pool and secluded garden.
There will be a welcome dinner on Sunday 24th September and the course will finish with an evening meal on Friday 29th September.

About Lesley Holehouse:
Lesley is one of the most knowledgeable hoof trimmers in the world. She has been learning and trimming for over 15 years and has trained with many different people. She qualified with the American Association of Natural Hoof Care Practitioners in 2007. Following her qualification she was asked to be a European trainer for the Equine Sciences Academy Degree in Natural Hoof Care.
She was also invited onto the LANTRA ( Govt Rural Training Body) Committee to define the National Occupational Standards for Hoof Trimmers. This was followed by her participation in a DEFRA (Dept of Agriculture) Consultation Group on the Professional Status of Hoof Care Practitioners.
She has studied with many practitioners in many areas of horse care. The list includes Professor Robert Bowker, Pete Ramey, Ivana Ruddock, Stuart and Jane Myers, Katie Watts, Kerry Ridgeway, Alexandra Kurland, Hannah Weston, Shawna Karrasch, Jaak Panksepp, Paige Poss, Pete Laidley, James Shaw and Juliette Getty.
She is a co-operative member of BarefootWorks and has a full time practice in the North of England
