Targeting is a really versatile training technique that you can use for so many things.
In the last video (part 1) I explained what targeting is and the different types of targeting. This video looks at some of the practical uses of touching a target.
Touching a hand-held target is the first type of targeting I teach. In this video, you’ll learn:
– how to introduce the hand-held target
and then use it to train:
– lining up at the mounting block
– lateral flexions
– backing up
– teaching shoulder over and quarters over
What else have you used targeting for? Or wonder if it could be helpful in your situation?
These are the other videos in this Targeting Series:
P1 What is Targeting? And why is it so USEFUL?
P2 Why Teach Your Horse to Touch a Target? De-Spooking, Rein-Back, Loading and More…
P3 Why teach your horse to FOLLOW a target?? Lunging, lateral work, stretch down and more…
P4 Why use STATIONARY targets? Riding, loading, jumping and more…
